Spring Fever

Ok. So I might’ve told a little, teeny, white lie… Saying that  “I’m Baaaaaak” may have been a bit much. But I’m just drowning in homework and I bit off more that I can chew with particular class load.

But I’m here now and have some yumminess to share!!!

We  popped over to The Crow Asian Art Collection and saw some BeaUUUUtiful art that I couldn’t take pictures of to share with you, except for a few outdoor pieces.

Where I would like to sit and do my homework…what am I saying?!  I mean SLEEP. This is where I’d like to take a nap or maybe be meditate and pray…after my nap.

ROAR!! Is that the Dwarf of Ignorance under his paw?

Did you know that is not a knot of hair on the Buddha’s head?  It is a cranial protrusion that signifies wisdom….but it’s still covered in hair. This example is before The Six Dynasties Period…you can tell by his open robe….the Indian influence….I learned that at school- 75 pages of lecture notes and that’s about all I retained.

I managed to pop into Paper Source on a Sunday before the crowds at the mall and spend my birthday gift certificate!  Thanks Frarefrow!

And found this bowl at Anthropologie. Isn’t it kind of SPECTACULAR!?

In a delightful, shy, jade green. Used a g.c. for it as well.  Whoot!

These lovely people brought me some treasures from their flea market! They know me so well….

The oldest jar EVER with the loads of little treasures inside!

We chased sunsets while waiting for the salmon to bake.

And remember me telling you that my daughter was selling flowers to get to summer camp?  Well, her grandmother…..let’s just say, bought TONS of flowers.

My darling sage bloomed…probably jealous of the…

roses nearby.

But when I put them together….so sweet.

Celebrating Hubber’s new job (again) where the frozen margarita machine was invented. Sooo good, but soooo high in sugar.  Tequila and sugar= massive headache that same night.

Did you hear about all of the Tornadoes in Texas? They would NOT leave.  The big chunks of red would not budge.  Scaaaaarrry!  My daughter was on the golf course for her District Championship (which they won) swinging her clubs high in the electric air. As a mama, I was a little on edge that day.

Last but certainly not least….BUNNY BAIT!!

Pinterest got me again, and my girlfriend…the one that gave me the flea market treasures, made it first and swore it was awesome so we tried it and Tracy was right, so it’s official, Pinterest makes you fat.

Here’s how to make a HUGE batch….

4 bags of Tender White microwave popcorn

2 bags of Easter M&Ms

24 oz of white chocolate

about 3 cups broken pretzel pieces

Mini marshmallows (optional)

Break the recipe down into batches according to your largest bowl. I had to break it down into 4 batches

Add to your bowl: one bag of popped corn, 1/4 of the M&M’s, 1/4 of the pretzel pieces and then drizzle on 1/4 of the white chocolate that you melted in the microwave on medium and stirred every 30 seconds.  Fold and fold using a spatula to avoid breaking the popcorn up . Scrape the inside of the bowl as you go. Lay the batch out onto wax or parchment paper, sprinkle on 1/4 of your sprinkles and let cool and harden. Add some marshmallows.

This recipe made 18 of these gift bags!

This Easter is going to be sweeeet!  Get it? Winking smile

Have a Lovely Easter!

see you soon

I’m baaaaack!

Oh my goodness!  What the H-E-double Hockey Sticks happened?  I was here one minute and gone the next.  Welllll…here’s what happened…

Reading! Tons and tons of reading-and homework -and group projects here and there and everywhere.  I’m in the library more than my own bed!  It’s just been so crazy. Shaving my legs used to be a chore, now it’s my only recreation.  Pathetic. There hasn’t been a single free minute since my last post.

Great things are a brewin’ in my little family though, and all of their wonderfulness has been an adjustment.

In and amongst the changes and homework, our regular life persists.

There have been dances,

and sweet little surprises – our Lenten Rose

finally bloomed after 6 years.

I’ve been on one tiny adventure,

and learned so many new and wonderful things.

I had a birthday

and had recess for the whole day

and night!

All the while, I longed for creativity and have had to settle on Instagram ‘art’ while brushing my teeth or waiting for the microwave to ding.

This is Charlotte, the most photographed kitty in the ‘hood…

She has little privacy.

This sweetheart advanced to Life Scout and is just months away from Eagle.  He was also selected for Order of the Arrow (scout honor society), has recently been on his ‘Ordeal’ camping trip and was moved by his experience of fasting, silence, and service.

He’s also the newest Sexy Sub Slinger because he has a

J O B!!!

Hold on!  I’m not done yet….

My daughter decided she’s going to a Colorado summer camp in July, and since she ain’t got no J O B (because she has more homework than I do), she’s selling flats of flowers because she’s just awesome like that!

Wanna buy some or donate some to a church or shelter? …just leave a comment.

Nothing EVER holds this girl back!

then there’s this man…

who is my very best friend, biggest fan, work- out partner, private masseuse, plumber, mechanic, and partner in crime.  He has kept this little household running in tip top shape, dragged me out of the house for our walks every morning, and has kept me awake and focused at my keyboard almost every night.

What a crazy month, but the end is in sight.

This week is SPRING BREAK!!

and to celebrate…

Cupcakes for breakfast!!!!

Then an immediate run to Buffalo…

(and with that, weird sleeping schedules)

I am in a Facebook Group with Effy Wild and the first chance I stumbled upon, I made prayer flags for our swap.

Check them out…

They are gray cotton 6×8 pieces that have been gesso’d and lovelified…IMG_2819

One is mine and the rest are off to Anna in Australia, Allurynn in Cortez, Colorado, Lynne in Pennsylvania, Dariana in Malta, and Ru in Canada!

And do you remember this oddity?

We have a winner..

Who, I might add, swooped in and helped me with a Contemporary Lit. crisis, which I made an A on!

She’s a lifesaver.

Thank you- and your Starbucks gc is on its way! (as soon as you email me your snail mail addy)

Wait!  One more thing.

I made a delicious frittata or maybe it’s a crustless quiche.  Either way, I thought you might like to try it since it’s quick and easy, and you can stand at the stove and read at least four pages of your homework while it cooks.

High protein, low carb.

1 Tablespoon butter
1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
6 large eggs
3/4 cup full-fat cottage cheese
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup water
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
3 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon paprika

Melt butter in a skillet. Add green onion; cook 5 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally. Combine eggs, cottage cheese, cream and water in mixing bowl; beat at medium speed until smooth. Stir in cheddar cheese, basil and maybe a little black pepper; pour mixture into skillet.

Cover tightly and cook over medium heat 13-17 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Sprinkle paprika over top of quiche.

Serve from skillet or slide onto serving platter.

A Burning Man for my bucket list

Adding things to my Bucket List!  Thought I’d share this one because you might want to add it to yours….

Here’s what the website says…

“Once a year, tens of thousands of participants gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever.”

tens of thousands?    create a city?    art?  self expression?   no trace?

Vehicle and Kinetic Art….

Have you ever been??  Wanna go!? Meet me there!

A Vintage Christmas

Field Trip!

Miss Kim and I recently toodled around Dolly Python and CuRioSiTies. Among their year round funky junk was ChRiStMaS  funky junk!

My Grandmothers had some of the same funky bits on their trees, and as I kid I thought they were ‘old lady lookin’.  But now I love them!  They have the same effect on me as hearing the Peanuts theme song  or watching Frosty the Snowman WITH the commercials.

I hit estate sales now and then and find tons of vintage decorations but just don’t buy them because they’re….crapped out.  The antique dealers get all the good stuff a day before the estate sale is open to the general public. So instead, I roam the vintage shops and admire their non-crapped out ornaments and decorations….

I hang the ornaments that I inherited on our family tree every year, regardless of their….funky ness.

If you have a pile of vintage goodies that are too vintage for your tree or that don’t really fit your theme make a wreath out of them!

This was made from gold, silver, white, and pink ornaments, tinsel, plastic floral goo-gaws, and a handful of worn out pieces that are just kind of smooshed in.

This one is made from tufts of green plastic holly, random poinsettias, glitzy pinecones, glitzy spruce branches, and two elves on either side of a tree.  All of the bits are wired to a regular fake greenery wreath.

Awesome huh?!

And let’s not forget the vintage apparel!……

If you see my kids, don’t tell them I posted this picture!!!!

Merry Christmas to you and
