I’m baaaaack!

Oh my goodness!  What the H-E-double Hockey Sticks happened?  I was here one minute and gone the next.  Welllll…here’s what happened…

Reading! Tons and tons of reading-and homework -and group projects here and there and everywhere.  I’m in the library more than my own bed!  It’s just been so crazy. Shaving my legs used to be a chore, now it’s my only recreation.  Pathetic. There hasn’t been a single free minute since my last post.

Great things are a brewin’ in my little family though, and all of their wonderfulness has been an adjustment.

In and amongst the changes and homework, our regular life persists.

There have been dances,

and sweet little surprises – our Lenten Rose

finally bloomed after 6 years.

I’ve been on one tiny adventure,

and learned so many new and wonderful things.

I had a birthday

and had recess for the whole day

and night!

All the while, I longed for creativity and have had to settle on Instagram ‘art’ while brushing my teeth or waiting for the microwave to ding.

This is Charlotte, the most photographed kitty in the ‘hood…

She has little privacy.

This sweetheart advanced to Life Scout and is just months away from Eagle.  He was also selected for Order of the Arrow (scout honor society), has recently been on his ‘Ordeal’ camping trip and was moved by his experience of fasting, silence, and service.

He’s also the newest Sexy Sub Slinger because he has a

J O B!!!

Hold on!  I’m not done yet….

My daughter decided she’s going to a Colorado summer camp in July, and since she ain’t got no J O B (because she has more homework than I do), she’s selling flats of flowers because she’s just awesome like that!

Wanna buy some or donate some to a church or shelter? …just leave a comment.

Nothing EVER holds this girl back!

then there’s this man…

who is my very best friend, biggest fan, work- out partner, private masseuse, plumber, mechanic, and partner in crime.  He has kept this little household running in tip top shape, dragged me out of the house for our walks every morning, and has kept me awake and focused at my keyboard almost every night.

What a crazy month, but the end is in sight.

This week is SPRING BREAK!!

and to celebrate…

Cupcakes for breakfast!!!!

Then an immediate run to Buffalo…

(and with that, weird sleeping schedules)

I am in a Facebook Group with Effy Wild and the first chance I stumbled upon, I made prayer flags for our swap.

Check them out…

They are gray cotton 6×8 pieces that have been gesso’d and lovelified…IMG_2819

One is mine and the rest are off to Anna in Australia, Allurynn in Cortez, Colorado, Lynne in Pennsylvania, Dariana in Malta, and Ru in Canada!

And do you remember this oddity?

We have a winner..

Who, I might add, swooped in and helped me with a Contemporary Lit. crisis, which I made an A on!

She’s a lifesaver.

Thank you- and your Starbucks gc is on its way! (as soon as you email me your snail mail addy)

Wait!  One more thing.

I made a delicious frittata or maybe it’s a crustless quiche.  Either way, I thought you might like to try it since it’s quick and easy, and you can stand at the stove and read at least four pages of your homework while it cooks.

High protein, low carb.

1 Tablespoon butter
1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
6 large eggs
3/4 cup full-fat cottage cheese
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup water
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
3 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon paprika

Melt butter in a skillet. Add green onion; cook 5 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally. Combine eggs, cottage cheese, cream and water in mixing bowl; beat at medium speed until smooth. Stir in cheddar cheese, basil and maybe a little black pepper; pour mixture into skillet.

Cover tightly and cook over medium heat 13-17 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Sprinkle paprika over top of quiche.

Serve from skillet or slide onto serving platter.

Win a Starbucks gc, My ship came in!, cascarones, and freaky fruit needs YOUR help

Happy Happy Hump Day…

A few things to cover today, first….

My ship came in!!!

Look what came in the mail…

Pretty Cute huh?

Also, it’s time to start saving these….

if you want to make these….

Cascarones! ConFeTTi filled eggs.

So that you can do this….

(I don’t who these people are, but they look really happy….must be the Cascarones!)

Confetti eggs would be great for a gaggle of geeks, a corral of kids, or all your unsuspecting extended family members at the Easter Day picnic. (((( Only the ones that don’t read your blog that is  Winking smile ))))

You could also use birdseed or Fruity Pebbles cereal, and let the dog clean up the mess.

Next up-

My daughter found a freaky fruit specimen and we need your ideas for a caption before we post it to Pinterest. Preferably something funny or smarmy, and we’ll run it through roflbot.

Please leave a comment and if we choose yours, we’ll send you a

 Starbucks Gift Card

BTW- You’re reading my 100th post!!!

And this is my latest. Can you tell I’m an Ohl fan?

  Her eyes are NAVY!

Don’t forget to comment with a caption about the “strawberry’ (don’t send emails and texts people!) for a chance at my extra Starbucks Gift Card that I won in a bet from someone who thinks I can’t do magic.

You are loved….a how-to

Hello! Good Morning – Happy Saturday!  I’m sure you have a ton of stuff to get done today.  Me too, but I wanted to post a little project first. I made this little card for my Mom’s birthday, and mailed it with a blue bird necklace and a big ole blue bird candle. I oftentimes end up with themes running through my gifts, I don’t know why, it just works out that way.

Anyhow, the card is for Mom, but the process of painting a face and finding bits for a page are quite therapeutic for me, and I highly recommend it for all of you!  Even if you don’t feel creative, just try it!  Don’t think there’s a right or wrong way, and remember that you’re not being graded and no one ever has to see it, but do try.

Some people have knitting as a creative outlet, but every stitch must be perfect. Some people have an ear for music.  The rest of us can use glitter and ticket stubs, and crayons, and whatever we find between the couch cushions!

Follow along and make your own. If you don’t have card stock or an art journal, just use a cereal box.

I have also added a new ART JOURNAL tab at the top of this page.

white bird

The stretch from post holidays to about Easter is the hardest and the longest.  This winter has been cold to me but unusually warm to everyone else, and I must admit that on my walks every other day, there have been more sing-alongs amongst the birds, busier squirrels, and more green patches along the way. But still the night comes too early and the spring renewal is far off….just out of reach.

The canvas is 1×3, with acrylics, pastels, collaged bits, charcoal pencil, and ink.
